Our De Soto Middle School cheerleaders have been hard at work recently, putting in the time and effort to sharpen their skills, strengthen their teamwork, and prepare for an exciting season!

As we wrap up our first week of school, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to our incredible De Soto #73 Transportation Department!
The first week of school is always busy as students learn new routines, drivers get familiar with new routes and stops, and everyone works together to make sure our Dragons get where they need to go safely.
Our transportation team has worked incredibly hard—putting in long hours, making adjustments, solving problems, and stepping up wherever needed to keep our students moving.
To our drivers, aides, mechanics, transportation staff, and everyone who jumped in to help—THANK YOU! Your patience, flexibility, dedication, and commitment to our students have not gone unnoticed.
We also want to thank our families for their patience and understanding as we worked through those first-week routines.
We appreciate our transportation team and everything they do to safely transport our Dragons each and every day!

All elementary buses are now en route following the conclusion of the school day. Students who ride the bus are currently on their way home.
Arrival times will vary by route and may be later than the times listed in Infinite Campus. During the first week, loading may take longer as we carefully confirm that each student is on the correct bus. Students and drivers are also becoming familiar with new routes, stops, and dismissal routines.
This information was also sent to all elementary families via text message and email.
Thank you for your patience as we work to transport every student home safely. We will continue to provide updates as needed to help families plan for their child’s arrival, including notifications about any additional delays we encounter.
Please join us in congratulating 2026 De Soto High School graduate Kaleb Pfeffer on graduating from U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command on August 27, 2026, in Great Lakes, Illinois!
Following this incredible accomplishment, Kaleb will now begin training to become a submariner in the U.S. Navy, joining a highly specialized group of sailors who serve our country beneath the sea.
Congratulations, Kaleb, on this outstanding achievement! We are proud to celebrate this exciting milestone with you and wish you continued success as you begin the next chapter of your journey.

The project is still a work in progress, but an exciting addition is now proudly on display at J.C. Culwell Stadium—just in time for our first home football game tonight!
A huge shoutout and heartfelt thank-you to Josh Boyer and Boyer Building and Design for generously donating and installing the new flagpole and flag. They also ran the electrical wiring and installed lighting so the flag can be proudly illuminated at night.
This incredible addition brings even more Dragon pride to our stadium, and we are grateful for community partners who continue to support our schools, students, and community.

ELEMENTARY TRANSPORTATION UPDATE
All elementary buses have now been dismissed, and our bus riders are on their way home!
The last bus left the lot approximately 35 minutes behind schedule. Families impacted by delays received direct email and text notifications as buses left their respective schools to help provide the most up-to-date information possible.
Thank you to our families for your patience and understanding as we continue working to improve our dismissal and transportation routines.
